I have just created this new blog, and thought
that I would bring back some classic tips to
help you out with your summer training and
racing:

Tip 1
Treat yourself like an elite athlete.
Eat sleep and breathe like an elite athlete, you are
worth it. Questions to ask yourself: Would an elite
athlete eat that meal, or sleep those hours? Would you
stay up so late playing video games or watching tv? What
other steps can you take to improve your quality of life
while improving your over all happiness as well.
Tip 2
Before you start your race, take the
time to remember why you are doing this race. Appreciate
yourself and your commitment to yourself and the fact
that you are taking steps towards fulfilling your life
with each training, race, and rest day.
Tip 3
This week: take the time to think fondly of how much you
trained even if you don't feel that you trained enough.
Appreciate the fact that you are racing, your body is
fit, that you are not stationary but that you got out
and took the time to improve your life and your fitness.
Tip 4
After awaking each morning: stay in bed
a few minutes longer and take the time to visualize your
happiness and success. Visualize yourself eating a
healthy breakfast for endurance, visualize getting ready
for the swim in the morning and enjoying that beautiful
day. See yourself smiling at the other competitors,
shaking hands, smiling to yourself as well and feel the
joy through your entire being.
Try to use all of your senses and all of the
elements.
See your swim start, feel how good the
water is as it slips across your skin and how smooth you
feel in the water, take your time and finish calmly with
lots of energy remaining for the rest of your day.
Imagine yourself going through transition, putting your
clothes on in the same order you will on race day. See
yourself eating the food/gels that will help you
throughout your day. See yourself put your helmet and
shoes, and sunglasses, and see yourself with your bike
as you head through a smooth transition onto the course.
Imagine how great it feels to set off on your bike ride.
Feel the fire of your life warm you and the clean sweet
wind across your body, cooling you. Take it easy, get
some nutrition in your mind, see the crowd cheer you on,
they are rooting for you. Finally, you are done the bike
and you feel fantastic.
You head out for your run, and head out onto the course.
Imagine how your transition should be, and think about
in what order you need to prepare yourself for a
successful run. Enjoy the feeling of the run and the
solid earth below your feet. Feel the thrill as you
imagine yourself crossing the finish line, into your
fans who cheer in great happiness for your finish. Feel
tremendous happiness with yourself for all the hard work
that you have done. Experience your spirit soar.
When you can write about your race report it in your
book. Yes! See past the time that you finish in your
visualization, as it is all part of a successful
wonderful race.
